Panel Requirements for Assembly

 
 

The two most preferred methods for panelizing PCBs in an array or adding PCB rails are V-scores and mouse-bites. 

V-scores are straight lines cut generally ⅓ the PCB thickness on the top and another ⅓ along the bottom. Here are some guidelines:

  • The spacing between boards should be 0mm. 

  • The minimum PCB size for V-scoring is 75 x 75mm,maximum size is 450x1245mm.

  • V-scoring line must go continuously through the panel and be either vertical or horizontal lines (unless you consider jump scoring which may be necessary for the wave solder process)

  • The closest you can take a v-score to the edge of the panel is 0.35mm

  • The board thickness should be at least 0.6mm.

 

Mouse bits are usually five 0.787 diameter holes drilled 1.27mm apart along the board edge. The spacing between boards should be 1.6mm (see the picture below for reference):
