DFM and DFA Checks

Henway manufacturing engineers utilize our PCB DFM and DFA analysis capabilities for all PCB production and assembly jobs.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is the process of finding and fixing critical production issues prior to ordering PCBs or components. Henway uses special PCB Gerber file inspection software and proprietary work instructions to check designs before submitting to PCB fab. In many cases we will suggest small tweaks in order to bumb a design from difficult to produce into the standard specifications category saving hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Design for Assembly (DFA) is the process of finding and fixing the issues critical for the assembly of the PCB. For example, one of our DFA checks includes going line by line through your bill of materials (BOM) and using our special CAD software to overlay the manufacturer’s recommend PCB footprint ontop of yours and flagging any differences. See examples below. Other checks include solder paste, silkscreen, solder mask, checking if any parts collide with each other, and checking if there are any components in the BOM but not on the board and vice versa. We catch mistakes in almost every design saving tons of money and heartache.

DFM/DFA checks are standard when using Henway Technologies.
