Our client, an energetic visionary, is the owner of a luxury brand of commercial food processing equipment. He initially engaged a product development company specializing in industrial design and mechanical engineering to assist with developing a new digital kitchen gadget. However, the project encountered a setback when they decided to outsource the electrical engineering to a part-time freelancer. While the circuit designer’s initial progress was good, a change in requirements halfway through, necessitating a higher-power motor, threw the project off track. The existing electronics could not meet the increased power demand, and the freelancer, unable to adapt, proposed compromising on performance—an approach that didn’t align with the client’s vision and led to the freelancer ditching the project without notice.
That’s when they sought assistance from Henway. Our team evaluated the design and suggested methods to boost motor power without the need to alter the battery, PCB size, or the positioning of the USB charger, push buttons, and LEDs.
The plan was risky, and so it needed to be tested first. We developed a benchtop prototype showcasing the high-power operation. After successful validation, we revised the schematic and PCB layout, created new prototypes, and updated the firmware to accommodate the enhanced features without retooling their expensive plastic molds, saving time and resources.
As a result of our collaboration, the client and the product design company were able to launch their high-performance product 15 weeks ahead of schedule.
