A simple metal core PCB is a single sided PCB layout bonded to a sheet of metal (usually aluminum, or copper alloy). A non-conducting dielectric layer separates the copper traces and components from the sheet metal. Soldermask gets applied over the top for PCB assembly.
There are a few advanced metal core PCB options available:
- COB MCPCB known as “Chip-On-Board” Metal Core PCB, is a type of MCPCB used in thermoelectric separation applications.
- Two layer MCPCB consists of a two layer circuit glued to one side of the metal core. Imagine a single-sided 2 layer flex board glued to a piece of metal.
- Multi layer MCPCB consists of a multi layer circuit glued to one side of the metal core. Imagine a multi layer flex board glued to a piece of metal.
- Double sided MCPCB is when you need parts on both sides
Check below parameters about our aluminum pcb material:
- Aluminum thickness: 0.8-2.0mm
- Thermal conductivity: 1.5W/(m·K) and 2.0W/(m·K).
- Peeling strength: >9lb/in
- Solder resistance: SF: 288℃, >180 sec.
- Breakdown voltage: >3000v
- Dielectric loss angle: 0.03
- Flammability: UL 94V-0
There can be cost savings using a metal PCB in high-heat dissipating applications such as LED lighting and communications electronic equipment.
