Salvaging and Completing a Custom BLE Data Logger Project

A project manager at a company that serves a respectable portion of the $32-billion commercial tire industry found themselves needing help to finish development of a custom BLE data logger after their consultant, though adept at signal processing, failed to deliver a working hardware prototype. Despite multiple restart attempts, the consultant eventually gave up and stopped communication, leaving the project incomplete and the manager needing a new solution.

That’s when they reached out to Henway. Known for our ability to salvage valuable elements from incomplete projects, we were the perfect fit to take over from end-to-end. We recognized the impressive signal processing results from the previous consultant and decided to retain them. However, the hardware—comprising microphones, Bluetooth, coin cell batteries, DACs, and amplifiers—and accompanying firmware required a redesign to meet the requirements of a 5-year battery life, environmental ruggedness, and cost efficiency.

The picture shows the PCB developed for this project. We’ve successfully produced several production rounds consisting of hundreds of boards currently used to log data across fleets of commercial vehicles. The testing phase is progressing smoothly, and we are excited about the prospect of larger production runs with this client.
