
A medical equipment company approached Henway Engineering because they wanted to develop a medical face shield product equipped with battery-operated fans to sanitize air and prevent fogging. This company came to us with exceptionally detailed documentation, including requirements, pass/fail criteria, 3D CAD drawings, and environmental considerations.
The face shield PCB had to fulfill several requirements: it needed fast-charging batteries, current sensing for the fans, LED indicators to alert users when to change filters based on motor performance, connectors for cable harnesses, and two non-user-replaceable rechargeable batteries. There were also production cost targets, size limitations, and strict quality control.
Within just six weeks, we produced complete schematics and PCB layouts for the device. The PCB design was approved, and we proceeded to build 20 prototypes in-house. While the PCB assembly was underway, our team developed software for block testing the new hardware, documented the application firmware requirements, and created the necessary production testing software. Several weeks after the PCB prototyping was complete, we delivered the engineering files suitable for larger production runs.
