A service technician at a medical diagnosis equipment company came up with a product idea that could verify the temperature of blood products within seconds. With the help of an outside circuit design consultant, they successfully created a prototype, but the leap from a prototype to a market-ready product was challenging for the team. They shipped Henway outdated and non-functional prototypes and said one was working mysteriously without clear documentation or source code. The only clue they could give Henway was, “We think that’s a newer version. The old company had to move some traces to stop the board from overheating.”

We began by interviewing the technician and documenting the product functionality in the project requirements document to establish a solid foundation and to ensure consistency with the parts we found on the PC. Then, we developed a hardware specification document that detailed the specific function of each hardware block and its main components, cross-checking our findings with the requirements document. Finally, we created the schematic, PCB layout, and BOM, and made necessary improvements along the way. We then generated a new set of manufacturing files for our production team to review and quote.

We procured components for just over 100 boards but only a few bare PCBs. After assembling 5 prototypes, we conducted block testing, uploaded the firmware hex file, and sent the working samples to the customer. They were pleased and promptly approved the samples. Two weeks later, we dispatched 95 more boards to them.
