A customer came to us with a product that was outgrowing its “hacked electronics solution” — their words, not ours.
The product worked. It was selling. But every build felt like assembling a science fair project. Wires were breaking before the product reached the end customer. Batteries would arrive dead. The enclosure had to work around the off-the-shelf eval board instead of the other way around. The customer had machining skills, but the electronics felt like black magic.
The first phone call went like this:
“We do not want this to become a giant electronics project.”
“Our product is simple and is selling. We just need the electronics to cooperate.”
“How soon can we get 100 made? We’ve got customers on backorder.”
This customer wants us to take the same basic product and make it smaller, cleaner, and easier to assemble.

To eliminate extra machining steps, the new design self-activates on tilt and automatically shuts itself off after five minutes when not in use. We also added rechargeable LiPo batteries and USB-C charging from the back of the device, replacing the watch batteries he hated.
The customer had been building about 10 units per day by hand. The new approach turns installation into five simple steps that take only a few minutes.
We are about 3 weeks away from a 100-piece pilot production run.
They called Henway to review their files, and we quickly discovered iscrepancies.
Henway will handle the turnkey PCB assembly. His machining guy will ship the housings to us. Then we will install the electronics into the housings and ship the product back ready for his final steps and retail packaging.
